Elizabeth LaBarbera

Member (Term 2025 - Present)
USGS California Water Science Center
Elizabeth LaBarbera (she/her) is a Physical Scientist for the USGS California Water Science Center. More specifically, she works in the Organic Chemistry Research Laboratory (OCRL) where she extracts pesticides and pesticides degradates from water, sediment, soil insects, and animal tissue. Elizabeth earned a BS and MS in Chemistry from California State University, Sacramento. In her university research, Elizabeth developed methods to quantify contaminants of emerging products, in surface and ground water using gas chromatography flame ionization detection (GC-FID) and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). In her free time, she enjoys reading and playing board games.
