Aubrey Thompson is Program Manager for the Environmental Health Sciences Center at UC Davis’ Community Engagement Core. Her work focuses on increasing the translation, dissemination, and community engagement of environmental health research at UC Davis. She serves as a liaison between researchers and community-based organizations to develop and conduct research that meets the needs of communities impacted by environmental contaminants in California. She also sits on the Status of Women at Davis Advisory Committee at UC Davis.
Previously, Aubrey served as Communications Director at the Agricultural Sustainability Institute at UC Davis. Her role included development of strategic communications, building stakeholder engagement across the institute, and mentoring faculty and staff to improve how they communicated agricultural science. Aubrey earned her Master’s degree at UC Davis in Community and Regional Development where she focused on risk communication and public outreach around mercury contamination in fish in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. She has several years of farming experience and previously co-owned and operated a small farm in California’s Central Valley. She is a trained facilitator and media producer, and, with a decade of service at UC Davis, sees it as her mission to help keep the public in public university.
