Gabby is an Environmental Scientist with the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) in the Office of Legislation and Regulatory Review. She analyzes legislative, regulatory and budget proposals in support the department’s mission to protect human health and the environment from the harmful effects of toxic chemicals. Specifically, she identifies new strategies, procedures, and tools to better facilitate internal and external policy discussions. Prior to working at DTSC, Gabby was a Science and Technology Policy Fellow with the California Assembly Business and Professions Committee.
Gabby received her BS and PhD in chemistry from UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis, respectively, where she studied synthetic organic chemistry, chemical biology, and health and safety. Gabby often returns to her alma maters to support students through mentorship, career days, and other outreach events. She also remains involved in the Science and Technology Policy Fellowship by training the annual cohorts in the legislative process and the ins-and-outs of life in the Capital.
